Places of interest

Windsor and Maidenhead boast a combination of heritage, natural beauty and cultural hotspots. On top of this the borough is only twenty minutes from London and extremely close to the M25, all of this combined provides a rich and diverse home for our residents.


Boulters Lock is a popular lock and weir on the River Thames on the eastern side of Maidenhead and the weir is well known for its whitewater freestyle kayaking. There are also a number of eateries with views over the River Thames for people to enjoy.

Waterside Inn

This 3-star Michelin restaurant is owned and run by Alain Roux and offers classic French cooking. With an idyllic setting on the banks of the Thames, this establishment provides truly fine dining in beautiful surroundings.

Windsor Royal Shopping Centre

The crown jewel of Windsor’s shopping destinations, Windsor Royal Shopping Centre is located amidst the fantastic, newly refurbished Victoria Railway Station. As well as over 40 exciting shops, Windsor Royal is also home to a range of restaurants, bars and an art and craft market.

Windsor Castle

With a rich history spanning almost 1,000 years, Windsor Castle is the oldest and largest inhabited castle in the world. Official residence of Her Majesty the Queen, the castle attracts around 1 million visitors each year.

Windsor Great Park

Shrouded in mystery and legend, Windsor Great Park covers 4,800 acres only parts of which are open to the public. The park is home to the story of Herne the Hunter whose ghost roams around wearing the antlers of a stag and riding a black stallion at the head of a pack of hounds.


Dedicated to the world of the famous colourful bricks, Legoland Windsor is a unique family theme park experience. Set in 150 acres of parkland, the resort offers over 55 rides, shows and other attractions.

Ascot Racecourse

One of the most renowned racecourses in the country and home to the world famous Royal Ascot, Ascot Racecourse offers visitors a day at the races to remember.
